Privacy Policy
Sturdy works without an account and has no ads, analytics or tracking. What it records stays on your iPhone unless you turn on iCloud sync or benchmarks. We, Arteev Labs Inc., do not collect information that identifies you.
What Sturdy records
To show your device-care picture, Sturdy records signals that iOS already reports to apps:
- On foldable iPhones, when the phone is opened or closed and how long each fold takes.
- Battery level, and when a charger is connected or disconnected.
- The thermal state iOS reports (normal, fair, serious or critical), whether Low Power Mode is on, and the iOS version.
- When the app and its widgets are opened or refreshed, to fill gaps in the timeline.
- Battery health readings you choose to enter.
- On foldable iPhones, results of the position-holding check, in versions that include it.
These records are stored in the app's container on your iPhone, which the Sturdy widgets on the same iPhone also read. They are not sent to us. Exports you make (JSON or PDF) go only where you send them.
Location (optional)
In versions of Sturdy that include it, and only if you allow location access, Sturdy reads your iPhone's last known location when a fold is recorded and asks Apple WeatherKit for the outdoor temperature, so it can point out folds made in weather colder or hotter than Apple recommends for iPhone. Your location is never stored; only the outdoor temperature is saved with the fold, on your iPhone. Apple handles the weather request under Apple's Privacy Policy. You can turn location access off at any time in iOS Settings.
Purchases
The free trial, Pro and other purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment details or your Apple Account. Sturdy checks what you have bought on your iPhone using Apple's StoreKit.
Optional features
These are off unless you turn them on, in versions of Sturdy that include them:
- iCloud sync. Your records sync through your own private iCloud database, so your other devices can show them. We cannot read your private iCloud data.
- Benchmarks. Once a day Sturdy uploads one summary to Apple's CloudKit public database: fold count and safe-fold ratio, battery drain with the phone open and closed, peak thermal state, a daily stress score and the device model class, keyed by a random ID made on your iPhone. It contains no name, Apple Account, location or raw records. Turning benchmarks off stops the uploads.
Notifications
Sturdy's notifications are created on your iPhone and are opt-in. We run no push server.
Your choices
- Deleting Sturdy deletes everything it recorded on your iPhone.
- If you turn on benchmarks, turning them off stops the uploads; summaries already uploaded carry only the random ID, so they cannot be traced back to you.
- If you use iCloud sync, you can delete Sturdy's iCloud data in iOS Settings under your name › iCloud › Manage Storage.
- Location access can be changed in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services.
Children
Sturdy is not directed at children. Because Sturdy collects no personal information, it collects none from children either.
